Every second tracked. The right project suggested.

fairzeit tracks every second you work on your Mac, turns it into minutes and suggests the right project, with the reason why. You confirm with one key.

Try it free for 14 days. Your card is kept on file, and nothing is charged before day 15. Cancel any time before. For macOS 15 or later, on Macs with Apple silicon. Windows is planned.

Example: fairzeit keeps track of what you do in Figma, Zoom, Notion, GitHub, Calendar and Linear. For your work on the Figma file “NWB Onboarding” it suggests the project Northwind Bank, very likely, and says why: the rule “Northwind Design”. You accept the suggestion with one key. It then counts as billable and is added to the total of the day.

From seconds to billable minutes, automatically.

You don’t have to start or stop anything. fairzeit records every second of activity on your Mac, turns it into minutes and suggests the project it belongs to.

  1. Records every second

Active app, window and file, logged every second. Stored only on your Mac.

  2. Turns seconds into minutes

Seconds in the same context become one block. Short switches stay visible as a visit inside the block.

  3. Suggests the project

App, file and your rules decide, calendar events included. Every suggestion shows why.

  4. You confirm with one key

Press Return and the minutes count as billable and land in the export. You decide what counts.

Works in every app on your Mac.

No plug-in per tool, no integrations to set up. fairzeit records the app you work in and suggests the project from files and your rules, calendar events included.

Your activity stays on your Mac.

fairzeit watches no one. You see every detail, your team only the result. What goes where, the app shows you under Privacy, exactly as it does here.

Stays on your Mac

  • Window titles
  • URLs and domains
  • File paths
  • App history
  • Names of calendar events
  • Rules and suggestions

Stored encrypted, the key sits in your Mac’s keychain. No server reads it. How long it stays is up to you: until you delete it, or 7, 30 or 90 days.

Goes to the EU as a confirmed entry

  • Project
  • Start
  • End
  • Minutes
  • Note
  • Billable or not
  • Entry id, last change and deletion time

Confirmed entries only: after the Return key, by a rule you trust, or added by you. Only for projects you link to your workspace. Sent on their own, stored in the EU. A deleted entry is sent once more without its note.

Never recorded

  • Screen contents
  • Keystrokes
  • Clipboard
  • Page contents and URL parameters
  • Analytics data
  • Crash reports

Not stored, not sent, and no setting turns it on.

Goes to fairzeit.com for updates and your account

  • Update check: app version, language and IP address
  • Sign-in and sign-out: a one-time code you confirm in your browser
  • Plan check and project list
  • Hand-over: names of customers and projects, only by an owner or admin, after a preview

The update check runs once a day or only when you ask, and you can switch it off. An update is downloaded only when you install it. The rest goes only if you connect to fairzeit.com. Your sign-in token stays in the keychain and goes only to fairzeit.com.

You hold the switches

Pause recording. Private mode: it counts only the time, without app, title, URL or path. Hide Titles: grey bars instead of titles, say while you share your screen. You switch that on yourself, fairzeit cannot tell when you share.

Apps and websites that are never recorded

1Password, Messages, online banking: whatever is on your “Never record” list is kept as “Private”, without titles. Websites need the browser extension.

Your team sees only what you confirm

Your team lead sees only confirmed entries of projects you link to your workspace, nine fields each, as above. Activity, window titles, URLs and paths never.

Stored in the EU

Confirmed entries sit in a database in the EU, for your dashboard on the web. For teams, a data processing agreement (in German) under Art. 28 GDPR applies.

Every connection in sight

Under “Sent today” the app lists every request to fairzeit.com, the update check included: time, host, kind and outcome, with a count for entries and projects. A body, a token, a note or a name is never in it. The list stays on your Mac for 7 days and is never sent. No analytics, no crash reporter.

  1. Suggestions with sources

Every suggestion shows how sure it is and why: app, file or rule, calendar events included.

Example of a suggestion: Alder Health, 30 minutes, very likely. The reasons: the calendar event “Alder · Weekly”, the Figma file “Alder – Patient app” and the rule “Alder meetings”. You accept it with Return or dismiss it with Backspace.

  2. Review list

Everything this week that still needs you is on one list, oldest blocks first. Suggestions count as billable only once you accept them. After your first seven days you accept the very likely ones in one go.

    Every shortcut

    Return:acceptBackspace:dismissJK:next1–4:projectS:splitM:mergeN:addCommand-Z:undo

Example of the Review list: 11 open blocks. The first rows show Northwind Bank (45 minutes) and Alder Health (30 minutes) as very likely and Kestrel Studio (20 minutes) as a suggestion. One button accepts the two very likely ones in one go.

  3. Weekly overview

The week at a glance: confirmed hours, suggestions still open and the billable value per project. You see each project’s monthly budget in the web dashboard.

Example of the weekly overview, week 40: 22 hours 29 minutes confirmed, split into Northwind Bank 12.4 hours, Alder Health 4.1, Kestrel Studio 3.0 and Internal 2.9. 11 hours 35 minutes are still to review, the billable value is €2,246.

  4. Import and export

Imports entries from Toggl, Clockify, Memtime and eight more sources. Exports per client and period as CSV, Excel, PDF or JSON and for DATEV Lohn. Window titles and URLs stay out.

All eleven sources and what you export

fairzeit takes over what your tool’s export contains; hourly rates only where the file includes them.

    • MemtimeTimeline report as Excel or CSV
    • TogglDetailed report as CSV
    • ClockifyDetailed report as CSV or Excel
    • HarvestAll time entries as CSV
    • TimingReport as JSON or CSV
    • TimelyReport as CSV or XLS
    • clockodoReport as CSV
    • EverhourReport as CSV
    • TimeCampDetailed report as Excel or CSV
    • EARLYExport as Excel or CSV
    • CSV or ExcelA spreadsheet of your times

Example of import and export: import from Toggl, Clockify, Memtime, Harvest and seven more sources. Export as CSV or Excel, PDF, JSON and DATEV Lohn; the e-invoice as XRechnung is planned.

  • Rules

Decide that Figma with “NWB” in the window title belongs to Northwind Bank. The order decides, and the preview shows what the rule matches this week. When a pattern repeats, fairzeit suggests the rule to you.

  • Keyboard first

Return accepts, Backspace dismisses, J and K jump to the next block, 1 to 4 pick the project. Command-Z takes back any step.

  • Menu bar

One glance shows how much is tracked today. From there you start a timer for a call, switch on private mode or pause recording.

  • Entries in the EU

Your activity stays on your Mac. Confirmed entries of linked projects are stored in the EU. For teams, a data processing agreement (in German) under Art. 28 GDPR applies.

Seven things matter. Only fairzeit has all seven.

You’ll find each of them somewhere else. All seven in one plan: among the six tools shown, only fairzeit.

As of 11 October 2026, from the vendors’ pricing, feature and help pages; prices and currency may vary by country. All prices are in euros. Toggl, Harvest and Timely quote US dollars only, even to visitors from Germany; we converted them at the ECB reference rate of 13 October 2026 (€1 = $1.1188), rounded and marked ≈. The euro amount is therefore a guide only and moves with the exchange rate. We read the prices again on 14 October 2026, from Germany. “Only fairzeit has all seven” refers to the six tools shown. “Matching plan”: the cheapest plan with automatic tracking, billable rates and team reports; Harvest tracks automatically in no plan, and Memtime by design shows no one else’s entries in a team. fairzeit and Clockify exclude VAT, Timing is converted to exclude VAT; Memtime, Toggl, Harvest and Timely don’t say whether their prices include VAT. Row 07: among tools not shown here, ManicTime sells a one-time licence from ≈ €77.76 ($87) with one year of updates. “Reason not described”: the vendor’s pages don’t say whether a suggestion shows its reason. All named brands and logos belong to their respective owners; naming them implies no affiliation with fairzeit.

How it works

Old tool still running?

We extend your free trial until it ends, for up to 12 months.

For businesses only, within the meaning of § 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB).

Questions before you start

Can my team see what I do on my computer?

No. Activity, window titles, URLs and paths never leave your Mac. Your team lead sees only the confirmed entries of projects you link to your workspace: project, start, end, minutes, note, whether billable, plus the entry’s id, last change and deletion time.

How good are the suggestions?

From day one, fairzeit uses the app, the window title, the website and your rules, calendar events included. At first the suggestions are cautious. When you keep assigning something the same way, fairzeit notices the pattern and offers to make it a rule. Every suggestion shows how sure it is and why.

Does fairzeit write my invoices?

Not yet. Today you export your confirmed hours per client and period as CSV, Excel, PDF or JSON, with the hourly rate and the amount, and write the invoice in your invoicing tool. E-invoices as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD straight from fairzeit are planned. We’ll name a date once it’s set.

Is fairzeit available for Windows or Linux?

Not yet. So far fairzeit is for macOS 15 or later only, on Macs with Apple silicon. Windows is planned and Linux is on our list for later, both with no date yet. Sign up below the download, and we’ll write when it’s ready.

How does “44 days risk-free” work?

You try fairzeit for 14 days, then the first charge is made. If you tell us in writing within 30 days of that first charge (an email to hallo@fairzeit.com is enough) that fairzeit did not pay for itself, Link (Stripe) refunds that first charge in full. On a monthly subscription that is the month, and the subscription continues until you cancel it. On a yearly one it is the whole year’s payment, and a yearly subscription ends with the refund. You don’t need to prove anything. It applies once per company and to the subscription.

What exactly does Lifetime mean?

You pay once per seat and use the Mac app and the platform without a subscription, with every feature and update for as long as fairzeit is offered, at least 5 years from the purchase. If we discontinue fairzeit, we give at least 12 months’ notice, and you first get a full export of your data. Apps for other systems, such as Windows, are not included unless we say expressly that they are. After the purchase you download fairzeit and sign in with your order’s email address; no licence key needed. Up to 30 days after the purchase you get your money back in full if you change your mind. A refunded seat becomes free again and no longer counts as sold.

Do I need a card for the trial?

Yes. For the trial you put your card on file with Stripe; nothing is charged during the 14 days. Shortly before the trial ends, Link, which sells for us, reminds you by e-mail. Cancel before then, and you pay nothing. Otherwise the subscription starts on day 15, at €20 per person per month or €192 a year. Cancel monthly, effective at the end of the billing period; the yearly plan is cancellable at the end of the yearly term.

My old subscription is still running. What then?

Switching from another tool? We extend your free trial until your old contract ends, for up to 12 months. You upload the proof when you start. You put your card on file as with any trial; nothing is charged until the extended trial ends.

Does fairzeit help with the duty to record working time?

fairzeit exports the start, the end and the breaks of your working time as a record. Whether that is enough for your business is best checked with your tax or legal adviser.

Do I have to confirm every block one by one?

No. “Accept 5 suggestions” confirms all of a day’s suggestions, “Accept 3 very likely” all the sure ones of the week. fairzeit shows the button for the very likely ones once your first seven days are over. Only what you accepted gets billed, and Command-Z takes back any step.

Stop giving hours away.

By your numbers, €567 a month goes unbilled. From your first working day you review suggestions instead of filling in times.
