Comparison

fairzeit vs Harvest. A timer, or tracking that runs by itself.

Choose Harvest if invoicing is what you need most: it comes with every plan, even the free one. Teams costs ≈ €8.04 ($9) a month, billed yearly, plus usage fees. Choose fairzeit if you never want to start a timer again, if your entries should be stored in the EU, not the US, and if you want one fixed price per person, in euros.

Questions

Questions about Harvest and fairzeit

Can I bring my Harvest data with me?

Yes. Export all time entries as CSV from Harvest and load the file into fairzeit. fairzeit takes over the time entries, clients, projects and tasks. Hourly rates aren’t in this file; you enter them in fairzeit yourself.

Is fairzeit cheaper than Harvest?

Not to start with: Harvest Teams costs ≈ €8.04 ($9) a month, billed yearly, fairzeit €16 excluding VAT. But Harvest bills extra invoices, projects, clients and tasks by usage, quotes US dollars only and doesn’t say whether VAT is included. With fairzeit it stays one price per person.

Do I have to start a timer in fairzeit?

No. fairzeit records what you work on at your computer in the background and suggests entries from it. You confirm them with one key, or correct them.

Can fairzeit write invoices?

Not yet. fairzeit exports your time with amounts as CSV, Excel, PDF and JSON, plus the hours for payroll (DATEV Lohn); e-invoices as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD are planned. If invoicing is your main reason, Harvest is stronger today.

Where is my data stored?

Harvest says so itself: “All our servers are located in the United States.” With fairzeit the recording stays on your device; confirmed entries are stored in the EU.

Never start a timer again.
